SLEEP 2022 Highlight 3 : How to select an AI solutions for clinical practice: medical vs. consumer solutions

Applying AI solutions in clinical practice is a hot topic in this year’s SLEEP 2022 which reflects people’s eagerness to use AI in clinical settings. Over ten sessions in the conference, ranging from postgraduate courses, discussion groups, plenary sessions, and oral presentations, covering AI’s challenges, opportunities, selection and assessment. All speakers agree that if wearable plus AI solutions are carefully selected and applied, they can assist physicians in identifying sleep issues. With sleep architectures, an added value to clinical decision making brought forth by technology. However, physicians must carefully differentiate medical-grade vs consumer-grade solutions, e.g., FDA registered or FDA cleared, by evaluating the published clinical studies or directly communicating with the vendors.
